New Year's Eve in Modena: the "Galileo" air show in Piazza Roma
Modena welcomes 2026 with “Galileo,” a spectacular aerial circus show by the French company Deus ex Machina, scheduled for December 31 at 11:00 PM in Piazza Roma. Admission is free until seats run out.
At the heart of the performance is a large sphere suspended up to 30 meters high, around which unfolds an aerial choreography combining suspended dances, trapeze, silks, Chinese pole, and vertical dance. The story draws inspiration from Galileo Galilei, guiding the audience on a poetic journey through science, imagination, and shifting perspectives.
The entire show takes place suspended from a 50-meter-high crane, while monumental projections of nebulas and constellations light up the historic buildings of Piazza Roma, turning the city centre into an open-air urban stage. Before and after the event, Radio Bruno’s DJ sets will enliven the evening, adding to the festive atmosphere.
“Galileo” is designed for all ages, blending wonder, poetry, and entertainment, and has already been acclaimed at major international events.
By staying at I Tesori di Modena, located at Via Mascagni 116 and Via Malmusi 27, visitors can easily reach Piazza Roma and enjoy a stress-free New Year’s Eve in Modena without worrying about travel.
